Real food should die
Food shouldAct like food.
It should ferment. Bruise. Melt. Burn. Go stale. Eventually, go bad.
Somewhere along the way, America turned carbs into the enemy with highly processed wheat and chemical-packed bread. Bread should be simple. We use real ingredients so you can eat pizza without feeling like you swallowed a cinderblock.
Mortal Foods makes sourdough pizza from ingredients that sound suspiciously like food: flour, tomatoes, mozzarella, olive oil, basil, salt and time.
No potions. No magic. No thousand-year supply.
We ferment it slowly, fire it hot, freeze it at the good part, and let your oven finish the job.
Eat it while it’s good.

The pizza
Margherita
The pizza that has accepted its mortality.
Italian flour
Imported soft white Italian wheat. American wheat is often packed with heavy protein and pesticides, making it hard to digest. Carbs aren’t the enemy—bad farming is.
Slow-fermented sourdough
Flour, water, starter, salt. The natural fermentation process eats the sugar found in the wheat, so your body doesn’t have to.
Charred tomatoes
Charred, bright, messy. We roast them to bring out a violent, natural sweetness so we never have to add sugar to our sauce.
Mozzarella
Just milk, enzymes, vinegar, and salt. You don’t need anything more.
The rest
Basil. Garlic. Flaky sea salt. Olive oil. Oregano. Thyme.
Then we freeze it
Not instead of making pizza. After making pizza.
The cast
The Main Cast

Charred Tomato
Brings the acid, the sweetness, and most of the drama.

Mozzarella
Melts under pressure. Relatable. Just milk, enzymes, vinegar, and salt.

Basil
Shows up at the end, looks pretty, gets applause.

Garlic
Not technically the main character. Acts like it anyway.

Italian Flour
Italian. Naturally has opinions about dough.
Supporting Roles

Sourdough Starter
The only thing here that’s technically alive. For now.

Sea Salt
Small role. Huge ego.

Olive Oil
Makes everything better. Takes full credit.

Oregano
Tiny leaves. Massive pizza energy.

Thyme
We had some.
How it dies
01
Ferment
Give it life
Flour. Water. Starter. Salt. Then we wait.
The crust gets a life before it gets a box.
02
Fire
Make it pizza
We hit it with serious heat until the crust blisters, the tomatoes roast, and everything starts behaving badly.
Cooked hot. Not cooked immortal.
03
Freeze
Stop the clock
We freeze it. Not instead of making pizza, but after. We use a freezer as our natural preservative. No thousand-year supply of chemicals, just a natural pause button.
Frozen at the good part. Not forever.
04
Finish
Bring it back
Your oven gets the last few minutes. Crisp the crust. Melt the cheese. Take all the credit.
Eat it while it’s good.

One pie. On purpose.
